Highlights of Week E丨Xiaopeng Wuhan project starts, Geely and Xinwangda jointly build a battery factory
Last week, what major events occurred in the domestic and foreign new energy vehicle markets?
Xiaopeng Motors Wuhan project started, with a planned annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles
On July 31, the Xiaopeng Motors Wuhan project was officially launched in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is understood that the Xiaopeng Motors Wuhan project, covering an area of about 1,500 acres, will construct stamping, welding, painting, final assembly, batteries, and electric drives. Wait for the craft workshop. The planned production capacity of the project is 100,000 vehicles, and the annual output value will be more than 30 billion yuan after reaching production capacity.
He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xiaopeng Motors, said at the launch ceremony: In 2025, smart cars will reach 60% in China’s first-tier cities. I believe this is a huge opportunity. In the past six months, Xiaopeng Motors has continued to maintain a high growth rate, and we are very confident that we can do better in the next few years. The Wuhan project will land on the third-generation intelligent platform of Xiaopeng Motors and will be the first global platform of Xiaopeng Motors. At the Wuhan factory, we believe that when we actually mass-produce, we can reach full production soon.
Comment: As the third self-built factory of Xiaopeng Motors, the start of the Wuhan plant project will accelerate the release of Xiaopeng Motors’ production capacity.
Ningde era first generation sodium battery comes out, energy density has reached 160Wh/kg
On July 29, the long-propagated sodium-ion battery of the Ningde era finally unveiled its mystery. In a short 10-minute online press conference, CATL showed the industry a number of technological innovations in the material system, battery performance and structural design of its first-generation sodium-ion battery.
According to the official introduction, the first-generation sodium-ion battery of CATL has reached 160Wh/kg, which is the highest level in the world. Charging at room temperature for 15 minutes, the power can reach 80%. In a low temperature environment of minus 20°C, there is still a discharge retention rate of more than 90%, and at the same time, the system integration efficiency can reach more than 80%.
On the whole, the energy density of the first-generation sodium-ion battery of CATL is only slightly lower than that of the current lithium iron phosphate battery, and it has obvious advantages in low-temperature performance and fast charging, especially in high-power application scenarios in alpine regions. CATL also stated that the energy density of next-generation sodium-ion batteries is expected to exceed 200Wh/kg.
Comment: Sodium-ion batteries that far exceed market expectations come out. Is there a need for lithium-ion batteries?
Ideal Motor passed the Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing hearing
On July 26, Ideal Auto passed the Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing hearing.
According to the post-hearing information disclosed by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, after Ideal Motors is listed in Hong Kong, the board of directors will consist of eight directors, including three executive directors, two non-executive directors and three independent non-executive directors. At present, in the latest shareholding situation of Ideal Auto, Li Xiang holds 23.79%, Meituan holds 13.23%, Wang Xing personally holds 6.76%, and Fan Zheng holds 4.46%.
After the hearing, the information further disclosed the ideal car’s new car plan. The company plans to launch a full-size luxury smart extended-range electric SUV in 2022, and two other extended-range electric SUVs in 2023. Starting from 2023, at least two models will be launched each year. New high-voltage pure electric models.
Automobile: With the lessons learned by Xiaopeng Motor’s Hong Kong stock market break, will the ideal cars that follow will be treated differently by the capital market?
Xinwangda and Geely set up a joint venture to deploy hybrid batteries
On July 28, Xinwangda issued an announcement stating that its wholly-owned subsidiary Xinwangda Automotive Battery, Geely Group and Zhejiang Jirun jointly invested in the establishment of a joint venture company Shandong Geely Xinwangda Power Battery Co., Ltd. (tentative name) to build production capacity Including battery cell, module and battery pack production lines, it mainly focuses on supporting the production of hybrid (including 48V) power battery packs to meet the needs of Zhejiang Jirun, Geely Group and its related parties for a full range of HEV automotive power battery products. On the same day, Geely Automobile also disclosed the cooperation.
According to the announcement, Shandong Geely Xinwangda has a registered capital of RMB 100 million, which is funded by Jirun Automobile, Xinwangda and Geely Automobile Group in currency. The three parties intend to subscribe for 41.5 million yuan, 30 million yuan, and 2850 yuan respectively. Ten thousand yuan, the shareholding ratio is 41.50%, 30%, 28.50%.
According to the plan, after the joint venture is completed for mass production, the peak annual production capacity of the first phase will be no less than 600,000 sets of HEV (including 48V) power battery packs; the second phase will increase the peak annual production capacity to no less than 800,000 sets of supporting facilities through the new production line HEV (including 48V) power battery pack, the second phase of the new investment will be decided by the shareholders meeting of the joint venture company.
Comment: At a time when power battery companies are motivated by competition and power battery supply is in short supply, the binding of Xinwangda and Geely is good for both.
A NIO EC6 in Shanghai hits the guardrail and catches fire, the owner is killed
On July 30, NIO’s general manager in Shanghai, Qing Hua, issued a statement on the NIO App, stating that at about 5 o’clock this morning, on Lingang Avenue in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, a NIO EC6 caught fire and burned after hitting the guardrail. Unfortunately. Weilai is cooperating with relevant departments to analyze the cause of the accident.
Qinghua also stated that the initial judgment of the damaged vehicle indicated that the battery pack was basically intact, and the specific cause of the accident is still under investigation.
In the afternoon of the same day, when some media asked Weilai to verify more details of the accident, a relevant person in Weilai said that the fire department has now identified this as a traffic accident. Next, the traffic police department will investigate the traffic accident, and Weilai will fully cooperate with the traffic police department to carry out the next step.
Comment: This time, the fire of an electric car may not necessarily be a pot of power batteries.
